We ran a post last week about a coyote sighting in Lakewood.
Apparently, there have been more than one.
Lakewood Patch readers sounded off, sharing their sightings around town. So, we put 'em all into an interactive map (above).
Capt. Ed Hassing of the Lakewood Police
Department, said there are a few reports of coyotes in Lakewood here and there, but “not many.”
He said there’s no reason to be alarmed.
“If seen the best thing to do is steer clear of them, they are generally afraid of humans,” he said. “If they become aggressive citizens should call Animal Control or the Lakewood Police Department.”
A recent story published in the Plain Dealer pointed out that animals are rapidly growing in population in Northeast Ohio.
The western species of coyote making its way into the Cleveland area aren’t known for attacking humans, but will attacks cats and dogs who wander too close.
If you happen to be lucky enough to get a snapshot of a coyote in Lakewood, feel free to post your photos to the Lakewood Patch Boards.
