Discount Drug Mart Construction Wraps Up

The lights are on and the shelves are stocked.   

The new Discount Drug Mart at the corner of Cohassett and Detroit avenues is scheduled to open its doors to the public on June 3.   

The location just a few blocks east will close and reopen a few weeks later as a Value World.  Meanwhile, construction crews are putting the finishing touches on the new store.     

It’s a process that began last year, when the company bought the former Spitzer Auto Dealership on Detroit Avenue.   

Overhaul, neighbors haven’t been exactly thrilled with the new store, expressing concerns over pedestrian safety, increased traffic and additional light and noise that would come with the regional drug store chain.
