Afi-Odelia E. Scruggs is an independent journalist whose work includes print, online and radio.
She has written for the editorial pages of <i>The Washington Post</i>, the <i>New York Post</i>, T<i>he Atlanta Journal-Constitution</i> and <i>The Plain Dealer</i>. She is a regular contributor to theroot.com, an online magazine, and for Cleveland and <i>Heart and Soul </i>magazines. Her commentaries have been broadcast on NPR's News and Notes, as well as on WKSU 89.7 FM.
She has written three books: "Jump Rope Magic," a picture book for children; "Claiming Kin: Confronting the History of an African-American Family," a memoir exploring the emotional effects of her genealogical research; and "Beyond Stitch and Bitch: Reflections on Knitting and Life," a collection of 11 essays.
