COX Cable Drops WOIO

The cable service provider and TV station were unable to reach an agreement by the Jan. 1 deadline.

Thousands of Lakewood residents looking to watch TV shows such as NCIS were disappointed to learn the COX Cable had dropped WOIO, the local CBS affiliate, from its channel lineup on Tuesday.  On its website, WOIO explained that the TV station was “unable to reach an agreement with COX Cable” by the Jan. 1 deadline. Lakewood residents — and thousands around Northeast Ohio — took their frustration to social media websites like Facebook and Twitter. “We understand how frustrating this is for you,” according to the statement posted on WOIO. “We share your frustration. Simple solution folks...cancel cable. Get highspeed internet, and a device such as a Roku Box if youdo not have a smart tv. Then you can pay $8 per month for streaming from netflix, Hulu etc. Get a cheap pair of rabbit ears, and you will get all the local channels. Most of the channels on cable are a waste anyway!
