Lakewood Marching Band Gets ‘Magical’ Invite to Thanksgiving Parade
This year’s band trip is special, because it’s the last with band director Brian Maskow, who’s retiring at the end of the school year.
The Lakewood High School marching band is headed to Disney World to take the big stage. On Tuesday, a group of about 90 students from the high school will board a bus bound for Florida, where they are scheduled to march in the Thanksgiving Day Parade at Magic Kingdom. Each of the students — from ninth through the 12th grade — has raised the $850 required to take the excursion. Many of them raised the money on their own, washing cars to pay for the trip. In addition to the Thanksgiving parade, the Rangerettes will participate in a Dancing Disney Workshop, where they will learn how to audition for dance shows.
