A new clothing store is filling up one of the last remaining vacancies in a renovated and very visible building in downtown Lakewood. Avalon Exchange, specializing in new and used clothing items, is expected to open at 15006 Detroit Avenue on Friday. An employee at the Avalon Exchange store in Squirrel Hill, PA, said the Lakewood location is the fourth store in the company. “We buy, sell and trade new and very desirable items,” said the employee. “We separate ourselves from traditional thrift stores because we carry top designer, vintage and other contemporary items.” The company began in 1988 as a vintage clothing store, and found success because of its “constantly changing inventory including designer labels, vintage, denim, leather, …
