Last year’s All You Need is Love (And Food) event went so well, organizers decided to do it again. Dozens of Cleveland-area musicians will take the stage at the Lakewood Masonic Temple to perform music of the Beatles, from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday — presented by the Trinity Lakewood Community Outreach organization. The Lakewood organization provides hundreds of hot meals, a produce distribution (distributing about 15,000 pounds of food in the summer), community gardens and community-based health and wellness programs to Lakewood’s neediest residents. “We’re all coming together for hunger relief,” said event organizer and TLCO advisory committee member Jason Weiner. “It’s a theme for the kind of community that we all want to be a part of.” …

Feed the hungry, feed the soul. That’s part of the idea behind the annual Soul Food event Saturday night in Lakewood. The other part of the plan is to have all kinds of fun. The third-annual fundraising event, "Soul Food: Feed the Hungry, Feed the Soul," is slated to take place from 6:30 to 11 p.m. at the Lake Erie Screw Factory. In year’s past, guests stayed late and danced an after party. So, this year, Soul Food organizers sought to make it official by bringing in soul-rock band We the People to perform until 11 p.m. “We’re expecting a large crowd,” said organizer Jason Weiner. “We’re trying to capitalize on that and have a good time.” The cost is $10, but that covers quite a bit: food, drinks, live music and access to the live auction…

More than 300 people waited in a line that stretched down Detroit and Hall avenues Saturday morning for Trinity Lakewood Community Outreach's first food pick-up of the summer. Many of those folks crowded the basement of the Trinity Lutheran Church, following the food pick-up for a hot meal. TLCO hosts four meals each month, including Third Saturday.
