Sullivan’s Property Has a New Owner

But don’t expect the restaurant to open up anytime soon.

The property that used to house Sullivan’s Irish Pub has a new owner. But don’t raise your glasses just yet. The new owner isn’t expected to reopen the space at 13386 Madison Avenue.  Instead, the property — which recently changed hands — is projected to go right back on the market. On Monday night, Lakewood City Council OK’d the liquor license transfer from Patrick Sullivan to DAMIJU, a company owned by Lakewood businessman Tony George. However, George isn’t expected to reopen the bar, once a staple of Madison Avenue.  At-large city councilman Ryan Nowlin said that George, the owner of the Harry Buffalo chain, will likely begin looking for a new buyer. George couldn’t immediately be reached for comment on this story, but he told Lakewood …

Sullivan’s Getting a New Owner?

Rumors swirling, but there are no confirmed buyers. Yet.

After Sullivan’s Irish Pub closed its doors in July, rumors have swirled about the future of the space. The popular restaurant — picked by Lakewood Patch readers as having the best fish fries and the best place to spend St. Patrick’s Day — changed hands earlier this year. The new owner handed the keys back to former owner Patrick Sullivan “and walked away,” said a former employee. Sullivan, who sold the business  — but not the property — earlier this year, said if someone’s buying his building, he doesn’t “know anything about it.” But that hasn’t stopped the chatter that the business has sold. Property records show that the building and land at 13368 Madison Avenue is still owned by Sullivan. One prospective buyer, Tony George, who owns …

Future of Sullivan’s Irish Pub Remains Uncertain

Former owner says he hasn’t spoken to the current owner of the business.

The man who opened Sullivan’s Irish Pub and Restaurant says he doesn’t know what’s next for the popular — and now closed — restaurant on Madison Avenue. Patrick Sullivan, who sold the business to Rich Nedly in January, said he’s waiting for more information. “You’d have to ask the owner of the business,” said Sullivan, who still owns the building. “I can’t reach him. I don’t know any more than you do.” Nedly has not returned several calls seeking comment. The lights are on at Sullivan’s Irish Pub, but there’s no one home. The doors have been shut and locked since Friday. Several large boxes, stuffed with decorations and stacked on the tables, can be seen through the windows. The parking lot is empty and a cone blocks the rear entrance on …

Doors Close at Sullivan’s Irish Pub

The employees were told not to return, and the popular Madison Avenue eatery has been shuttered since Friday.

The lights are on at Sullivan’s Irish Pub, but there’s no one home.  In fact, the doors of the popular Madison Avenue restaurant and pub are shut and locked. Several large boxes, stuffed with decorations, can be seen through the windows. The parking lot is empty and a cone blocks the rear entrance on Chesterland Avenue.  Employees were told last Friday not to come into work — and not much else. It’s not clear whether the business has closed temporarily, or permanently.  The employees don’t know either. Rich Nedly, who owns the business, did not return several calls seeking comment, and neither did Patrick Sullivan — who sold the business to Nedly. Sullivan still owns the building. An Irish-music band scheduled to perform at the restaurant …

Bites Near: For Irish Fare, Sullivan’s is It

Pub serves up classics like shepherd’s pie and blood pudding plus twists on standard bar food.

Recently, I went to Sullivan’s Irish Pub & Restaurant at 13368 Madison Ave in Lakewood after I heard that it has the most authentic Irish food in Northeast Ohio. When I got to Sullivan’s, I was surprised both by the size of the restaurant and how empty it was. My friends got there before me and grabbed at table. They had ordered drinks and some Irish potato skins by the time I arrived. The Irish potato skins were a nice twist on the traditional dish. They were topped with horseradish sour cream and green onions, and filled with Irish rashers, mushrooms and cheddar cheese. With an extensive beer selection and drink specials, we camped at Sullivan’s for a few hours enjoying Irish fare. One of the highlights was the Irish Cheddar Dip – I’ll …
