The boys squad picks up some recognition from the Lakewood City Council on Monday night.
The St. Edward High School rugby squad went undefeated this season, and picked up a state championship along the way. And on Monday, the boys picked up some recognition from the Lakewood City Council, where they were honored with a special resolution. The squad capped a perfect season with a state championship win over Cincinnati Moeller High School, 10-7, on June 1.
The Eagles’ track and rugby teams go the distance for state crowns over the weekend.
This season has been kind to St. Edward High School’s spring sports squads. First, the Eagles’ rugby team won the state tournament over Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller, 10-7, in Columbus, according to the Plain Dealer. That capped a perfect season. Then, on Saturday, the Eagles won the school’s first Division 1 state track title. According to the Plain Dealer, repeat 200-meter champion Anthony Young led the team in Columbus.
