Medina Man Under Fire for Facebook Post in Favor of CT Shooting (Poll)

According to WKYC, the man could face a $1,000 fine and 30 days in jail.

After the tragic school shooting in Newtown, CT, last week, a Medina man updated his Facebook status in favor of the gunman, according to WKYC. Joseph Resovsky's status read, "I'm so happy somebody shot up all those little (expletive). Viva la School Shootings!!!!" WKYC reports. Resovsky is 20.  The man said he was trying to make a point, but that point could get him a $1,000 fine and 30 days in jail.  Read more of WKYC's story here. In another incident, 33-year-old Virginia man Christopher Johnson wrote "High Powered Rifle" on a wood plank and walked into Sandy Hook Elementary in Shenandoah County, VA, News Channel 5 reports. An expert shares advice for parents who are trying to explain the Newtown school shooting to their children.

In the wake of the Sandy Hook school shooting tragedy, parents are wondering what to tell their children about what happened and how to help them process what they may be hearing from friends, on television and via social media. Lauren Hutchinson, LMFT is a child and family therapist and parenting consultant with a practice in Bellevue, WA. She says step one for parents is to “turn off the TV.” “We don’t want to have the TV playing in the background all the time. It isn’t helpful and the news is traumatizing for kids to watch.”   For kids age 7 and younger Hutchinson says, “you want to shield them from the media coverage completely and parents should not initiate a conversation about the event because kids this age cannot make sense of …

AP Reports More than 20 Dead in Connecticut School Shooting (Updated)

Tragedy struck in a Patch town in Connecticut Friday morning when news broke that there had been a shooting at a local elementary school.  The number of fatalities hasn’t been confirmed yet, but the Associated Press is reporting that 27 people are dead, including 18 children, Newtown Patch reports.
