It’s Fish Fry Season in Lakewood

We thought we'd list a few of them in case you're thinking of ditching red meat for the fish and chips.

The Lenten season is here a little early this year.  That’s welcome news to Lakewood, with residents who cherish the abundant fish fries in the city. The annual tradition begins on Friday. And there’s a new one in town — but it’s also an old one. St. James Catholic Church, reopened in July, is bringing its fish fry back. But the parish is looking for volunteers. Those interested are encouraged to call 216-221-3567. We thought we’d list a few of fish fries in case you’re thinking of ditching red meat for the fish and chips. But, please, if we forgot any, post ‘em in the comments. Lenten Fish Fries Fired Up in Lakewood

We thought we’d list a few of them in case you’re thinking of ditching red meat for the fish and chips.

It’s sort of an annual tradition in Lakewood. Lenten fish fries are expected to be the meal of choice for the next several Fridays around town.  We thought we’d list a few of them in case you’re thinking of ditching red meat for the fish and chips. But, please, if we forgot any, post ‘em in the comments. Around the Corner: 18616-20 Detroit Rd.; 216 521-4413; There's a fish fry every Friday during Lent; choice of Great Lakes Christmas Ale beer batter cod; Lake Erie perch, haddock; cod, blackened catfish; cabbage and noodles and homemade pierogies. Owner Mickey Krivosh said the fish fries are a big draw. Georgetown: Krivosh, who also owns the Georgetown restaurant around the corner (pun intended), said the restaurant doesn’t necessarily have…

Man, Women Arrested Following Armed Robbery

A Cleveland man and a Lakewood woman face robbery charges after three women had their purses stolen at gunpoint while walking in the parking lot behind Merry Arts Pub and Grille on Feb. 9.

A Cleveland man and a Lakewood woman were arrested and charged with robbery after three women had their purses stolen at gunpoint while walking in the parking lot behind Merry Arts Pub and Grille at around 9:30 p.m. Feb. 9. The suspects fled the scene on foot, but Police Chief Timothy Malley said officers responded and arrested the woman minutes later in the 1500 block of Lakeland Avenue. The man was arrested after he walked up to the porch of a home in the 1500 block of Westwood Avenue and asked the resident for a ride and to use her phone, according to the police report. A BB gun used in the robbery and the victims’ purses were recovered. “Nobody hurt, two arrests and all property recovered,” said Police Chief Timothy Malley.
