Toboggan Chutes Open for Martin Luther King Day

Cleveland Metroparks Chalet will have special hours on holiday.

The Chalet Toboggan Chutes will have special hours on Martin Luther King Jr. Day Jan. 21. The chutes, located in the Cleveland Metroparks' Mill Stream Run Reservation in Strongsville, will be open noon to 5 p.m. Regular hours at the chutes are: Daily admission for tobogganing is $10 for adults and $8 for children 11 and under. One-time ride tickets are available for $4. Group discounts during public hours are available. This year, a newly installed lift takes toboggans to the top of the hill so riders no longer have to carry them up. The twin refrigerated ice chutes start with an initial drop of 70 feet, traveling over 700 feet of ice at more than 45 mph.   All riders must wear gloves or mittens. Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day Around Lakewood

Not everyone has the day off, but everyone can make an impact Monday.

Motivated to honor the great civil rights leader on Monday’s national holiday commemorating his life, but don’t know how? Think “What would the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. do?” That’s what we did and we found five inspired ways you can use your mind, body and community spirit here in Lakewood, whether or not you have the day off. Work your mind 1. Head to the Lakewood Public Library where there are three family events happening throughout the day, including a Pajama Party which starts at 7 p.m. Bring your blanket and best snuggling buddy for evening story time.
