New Hotel is Needed in Lakewood, Say Patch Readers

On Wednesday, we put the question out, in the form of a poll. Looks like folks want a new hotel in the city.

Looks like Lakewood folks want a new hotel in town. On Tuesday, the city put out a request for proposals for a feasibility study to determine whether a hotel could thrive in Lakewood. So, we asked our readers what they thought of the idea. In addition to readers overwhelmingly voting in favor of the idea — 77 supporting the idea for a new hotel — the comments poured in Some of the discussions at Lakewood City Hall have focused on capitalizing on some of the development in downtown Cleveland — think casino and Medical Mart — as well as the development along Detroit Avenue in Lakewood. There’s already a Days Inn on Clifton Boulevard, but city officials are also considering the possibility of attracting a “boutique hotel” to the city. Here …

Yep, I saw that. I never knew that was going on there. I am glad they are on top of it and getting it cleaned up and again, I am not against a hotel in Lakewood. It's like I said above. I would like a B&B style building. A good example of the style I think would look good is the Ennis Court Nursing Home on Detroit (I found out the name). That style could fit quite a few rooms and give it a B&B …   more ›

A New Hotel in Downtown Lakewood?

During the past few months, a committee of Lakewood city and business leaders has met to discuss that possibility. A feasibility study could be coming soon.

Looks like some folks around town would like to bring hotel to Lakewood. During the past few months, a committee of Lakewood city and business leaders has met to discuss that possibility. They’ve talked about capitalizing on some of the development in downtown Cleveland — think casino and Medical Mart — as well as the development along Detroit Avenue in Lakewood.  Now, it’s time for action.
