Police received a call from a resident in the 1600 block of Chesterland Avenue about the living dead. The zombies were a part of the 11th annual Zombie Walk, to benefit the Cleveland Food Bank. Dangerous drugs: Police received a report of someone selling drugs at the corner of Detroit and Cohassett avenues at around 12:40 a.m. April 26. Car Break-Ins Reported on the East End

Car break-ins reported A laptop computer was reported stolen from a parked vehicle in the 1200 block of Donald Avenue at around 7:45 a.m. April 17. Another incident was reported in the 1300 block; a wallet, checkbook and football tickets were reported stolen. Later in the day, a man in the 13500 block of Merl Avenue told police that someone broke into his vehicle the night before and stolen a few items. Man Walks Into City Hall Dressed as Batman

Mistaken for Gotham City? Police received a report of a man donning a Batman costume walking into Lakewood City Hall at around 3:15 p.m. April 15. However, there was no threat — just a joker. The man told police that he “likes Batman and wore the costume to get some laughs.” Domestic violence A man was charged with disorderly conduct and domestic violence after he struck his wife then locked her out of the house in the 1000 block of Kenneth Drive at around 11:50 p.m. April 12.  Disorderly conduct Two men were charged with disorderly conduct in the 15700 block of Detroit Avenue at around 2:30 a.m. April 14. Motorcycle Crash Lands Man in the Hospital

Police responded to a crash at the intersection of Clifton and Lake roads on the city’s west side.

A 55-year-old man was taken to the hospital when a car near the intersection of Clifton and Lake roads struck his motorcycle Thursday afternoon. Capt. Ed Hassing from the Lakewood Police Department said the man suffered non-life-threatening injuries — possibly a broken leg. Small crowds of neighbors lined the sidewalk to have a look at the crash — some of them witnesssed the incident. “It wasn’t a very serious accident,” Hassing said, adding that the police report wasn’t immediately available.

Not surprising. I was almost hit riding my bicycle to and then from work yesterday on Clifton. The first was an older lady that turned from the center turn lane. I am not sure she could fully see over the dash board. This was on Cook turning toward LCA. Man Strolls Detroit With His Pants Down

The following arrest information was supplied by the Lakewood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Indecency  Police received a report of a man walking along Detroit Avenue without a shirt and his “pants down to his knees” making “obscene finger gestures” at passersby at around 5:30 p.m. April 14. When police caught up with him, officers learned that he had been reported missing from a home in East Cleveland. He was taken back there. Dog barking Police received a report of a dog barking in the 2000 block of Baxterly Avenue at around 12:20 a.m. April 20. Turns out, the dog’s owner had fallen asleep on the couch after he let the dog out. Man threatens to “harm people” A man called police and said he wanted to “harm people” at around 2:50 a.m. April 11 before hanging up. City Unveils New $1.1 Million Communication System

Following an FCC mandate, the city also installed new radio equipment for the police, fire and public works departments.

As a few final adjustments were made last week, the city unveiled its new, state-of-the-art dispatch center in the Lakewood Police Department. The new dispatch center was the last piece of the city's $1.1 million overhaul of the communication platform for the police, fire and public works departments. The upgrade — part of an FCC mandate — also comes with new digital radio equipment that allows departments to more effectively talk to each other and other communities. Essentially, police officers and firefighters can communicate with each other — from just about anywhere.  The project's total price tag was about $1.1 million, but $325,000 was paid for with grants, according to the finance department.
