The Lakewood restaurant expects to open its new addition in June.
Lakewood's Pier W restaurant is hoping to capitalize on its lakefront view even more. The restaurant is expected to open its new outdoor patio, on the roof, in June, The Plain Dealer reports. While seating will be limited, the anticipated date for its debut is June 3. "It will be located on the part of the restaurant's roof that perches out over the lake," Amber Gallihar, a spokeswoman for Pier W, told The Plain Dealer. The event showcases 2014 Olympic figure skating hopefuls.
A dance and figure skating show spectacular is coming to Lakewood. Skate Dance Dream will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at 7 p.m. at the Serpentini Arena. The event will showcase 2014 Olympic figure skating hopefuls including: 2011 U.S. Figure Skating Men’s Silver Medalist & World Team member, Richard Dornbush; 2012 Junior Grand Prix Final Silver Medalist, Hannah Miller; and U.S. Figure Skating Men’s Competitor, Sean Rabbitt. Gev Manoukian, a season four Top 10 finalist from Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance," is also scheduled to perform. Star cast is subject to change. The filming of the super hero film may cause some headaches on Lakewood roads.
While Captain America does protect the world from evil forces, he can't keep traffic flowing freely during a movie shoot. While the newest super hero flick is being filmed in Cleveland, traffic will be backed up because of roadclosures, impacting Lakewood drivers, according to cleveland.com. Because the film is shutting down West Shoreway from Lake Avenue near Edgewater Park to East Ninth Street between May 29 though June 14, that will cause east bound traffic to bottle up. St. John Medical Center participating in major national cancer study.
St. John’s Medical Center is helping the American Cancer Society celebrate its 100th birthday by locating local residents to help finish the fight against cancer. The center is participating in the historic national Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3) that will give scientists a better understanding of cancer causes and prevention. The Society is looking for men and women between the ages of 30 and 65 with no personal diagnosis of cancer, aside from basal or sqaumous cell skin cancer. The overall study is seeking to enroll 300,000 people and will be conducted at several Cleveland-area medical centers, including St. John's in Westlake, in addition to centers across the United States and Puerto Rico.
