Family Dollar Store Eyes Former Ganley Auto Location

Preliminary plans are expected to be rejected at Thursday's Architectural Board of Review meeting.

Family Dollar, a chain discount store, is looking to open up shop in a portion of the former Ganley Dealership at the corner of Detroit and Grace avenues. The plans call for the store to be built on the northeast portion of the property at 13215 Detroit Avenue. An adjacent building on the property would be demolished to make way for parking. But don’t expect construction to begin anytime soon. Dru Siley, the city’s director of planning and development, said there is still plenty of work that needs to be corrected on the architectural plans. Wow new to the Patch and plenty of catching up to do. Folk's dollar stores and the like typically move into areas which are experiencing populations with decreasing incomes and shrinking populations. Not the city I left 20 years ago.   more ›
