Extended Hours for Dunkin’ Donuts Approved

Lakewood Planning Commission votes to allow the doughnut chain to open an hour-and-a-half earlier.

Correction: David Anderson is the city councilman for Ward 1. Both of the Dunkin’ Donuts locations in Lakewood have opened at 4:30 a.m. every morning — an hour-and-a-half earlier than allowed by the city code. When city officials found out, they required the franchise to get approval for a conditional use permit from the Lakewood Planning Commission on Thursday. The commission obliged. “I believe this is an effort to ask for forgiveness as well as permission,” said Ward 1 city councilman David Anderson, who attended the meeting on Thursday. He said the only concern he’s heard is the additional traffic on Detroit Avenue as a result of the business on the west side of town. “The conditional use is an extra tool in our toolbox,” added …

To me it is business 101 more time for business more revenue. More businesses in Lakewood more tax revenue and the less I have to worry about the city raising my taxes. If you do not want the convenience of a city move to Berlin Hts. I like having the option to buy my coffee and donuts at 4am!! I live right by a factory it was there when I purchased my home. Why would I dictate when they can …   more ›

Dunkin’ Donuts Seeking Approval for Extended Hours

Franchise would like to open a little earlier. But first it must get the OK from the Lakewood Planning Commission.

Officials from Dunkin’ Donuts would like to open both Lakewood locations a little earlier each day. Even though the company already opens an hour-and-a-half earlier than the city allows, it needs to get the official OK from Lakewood City Hall. Representatives from the franchise are expected to request a conditional use permit from the Lakewood Planning Commission to open at 4:30 a.m. — rather than 6 a.m. required under city ordinance.  “They have to apply for the conditional use to extend their hours to open at 4:30 at both stores,” said Dru Siley, the city’s director of planning and development. “Per the code, they are allowed to open at 6 a.m., but the majority of their business is in earlier in the day.” The planning commission is set …

I wouldn't want a lot of traffic next to my house at 4:30 a.m. A lot of Lakewood restrictions are what make it a great place to live.   more ›

Dunkin' Donuts Outdoor Patio OK’d, Set to Open

Fast-food chain slated to open on W. 117th Street.

Dunkin' Donuts, expected to open its doors on W. 117th Street next week, will also have an outdoor patio. Last week, the city's planning commission unanimously granted the fast-food chain a conditional use permit for an outdoor patio that will feature three tables and 12 seats. Construction of the city's second Dunkin' Donuts location recently wrapped up. The design plans got final approval from city’s architectural board of review meeting earlier this year. The national doughnut chain plans to open up at 1528 W. 117thStreet, near the intersection of Franklin Boulevard, next week.  The property sits just north of the Shell gas station, where two homes were recently demolished.  The new quick-service restaurant would employee at least six …

Dunkin' Donuts Unveils Plans for New Location

Project — on W. 117th Street — gets the final approval from the city's architectural board of review.

It looks like a second Dunkin' Donuts location is coming to Lakewood. The plans to build the doughnut shop on W. 117thStreet got final approval from city’s architectural board of review meeting on Thursday. The national doughnut chain plans to open up at 1528 W. 117thStreet, near the intersection of Franklin Boulevard. The property sits just north of the Shell gas station, where two homes were recently demolished. While a purchase agreement is in the works, the property is owned by Berea-based Self Service Mini Storage. The new quick-service restaurant would employee at least six people, according to the plans. Dunkin’ Donuts Plan for a Second Lakewood Location Gets OK’d

National doughnut chain expected to break ground this spring.

The plans to build a Dunkin’ Donuts on W. 117th Street took another step forward at the city’s architectural board of review meeting on Thursday. The national doughnut chain is eyeing a second location in the city — this one at 1528 W. 117th Street, near the intersection of Franklin Boulevard. Bruce Sekanick, the architect representing the national doughnut chain, presented initial plans to the board, which were tentatively approved.  “The Dunkin’ Donuts we have on Detroit Avenue is very successful,” said Sekanick. It’s one of the nicest Dunkin’ Donuts that we have in the corporate portfolio. The one we’re proposing in 117ht is a little but different. It’s geared toward a standard drive-thru around the building.” The property sits just …

Dunkin’ Donuts Eyes Second Location in Lakewood

Coffee-and-doughnut giant to present plans to the city’s architectural board of review next week.

There may be another drive-thru restaurant setting up shop in Lakewood. Dunkin’ Donuts is eyeing a second location in the city, this one at 1528 W. 117th Street, near the intersection of Franklin Boulevard. Bhavesh Patel, an area Dunkin’ Donuts franchisee, recently submitted plans — along with Phillips/Sekanick Architects — to the city’s architectural board of review.  The property sits just north of the Shell gas station, where two homes were recently demolished. While a purchase agreement is in the works, the property is owned by Berea-based Self Service Mini Storage. The new fast-food restaurant would employee at least six people, according to the plans. The proposal shows a 2,200-square-foot brick building — with a 25-foot front yard …
