Two Men Face Charges After Second Heroin Overdose Occurs In Apartment In Less Than a Month
This incident occurred in the same apartment where someone fatally overdosed in January
The same apartment on Halstead Avenue has been the site of two heroin overdoses in less than a month's time. And both overdoses have led to investigations by Lakewood Police Department and criminal charges. The first overdose occurred on Jan. 23. On that day, Donald Lanum, 29, of Lakewood, is accused of accidentally killing a 44-year-old man named Freddie Fordyce by giving him a lethal injection of heroin into his arm. Lanum has since been charged with involuntary manslaughter, corrupting another with drugs, tampering with evidence and drug possession. The second overdose occurred Saturday evening. I can't agree more, it amazes me the the police can't see most of the drug activity around my building/area. People sitting in a bus stop at 3am, hello.. As a landlord, I'm glad to see that they are charging the owners of the building too. Maybe this will be a wake up call to some of these slumlords around here.
