Bad Girl Ventures Bringing Classes to Lakewood

The organization's logo may be pink, but men are also welcome to attend the classes at the University of Akron Lakewood campus.

School is in session for Bad Girl Ventures. The micro-investment organization is offering classes for hopeful entrepreneurs this fall at the University of Akron Lakewood campus.  And, women looking to get their business off the ground can compete for a $25,000 low-interest loan. Attention gentlemen: Even though BGV’s logo is pink and the loan opportunity is for female entrepreneurs only, guys are welcome to attend the classes. Reka Barabas, BGV’s Cleveland director of operations, shared the story of Bad Girl Ventures. Cincinnati attorney Candace Klein, looking to “enable women in the difficult start-up arena,” founded BGV in 2010. Two Minutes is Plenty of Time for Lakewood Entrepreneurs

Four finalists in Startup Lakewood’s Ideation Challenge meet at the University of Akron Lakewood campus to give an “elevator pitch” to a panel of judges on Tuesday.

What if you had two minutes to pitch an idea for a new business? That was the scenario at the second-annual Ideation Challenge for four entrepreneurial hopefuls, tasked with giving an “elevator pitch” to a panel of judges on Tuesday night.  The judges whittled down the list of 10 entrants to four Startup Lakewood finalists based on their business plans. On Tuesday, the finalists gave two-minute presentations to the judges at the University of Akron Lakewood campus. The entrepreneurs each had two minutes to impress the panel of judges, who also provided some valuable feedback.
