Angelo's Pizza Hosting Fundraiser for Freed Kidnapping Victims

Legendary pizza shop plans to give 100 percent of its pizza sales to Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight.

One of the first meals Amanda Berry wanted after nearly 10 years in captivity was a pizza from Angelo's Pizza in Lakewood. That's a loyal customer. Now, Angelo's is looking to show its appreciation. The Lakewood pizzeria is hosting a May 16 fundraiser for Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight, who were found this week in a Cleveland home after years in captivity. Acccording to a flyer circulating around town — and making the rounds on social media — Angelo's will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from pizza sales to the women on May 16. In addition, Angelo's employees are donating their hourly pay to raise money "for a very good cause." Fox 8 reported on Wednesday that the Berry family dined on Angelo's pizza for a celebratory meal …

Ruf Why be so cynical! Something is wrong with your phone because they are raising money hand over fist for this charity. They are jam packed with people either in the restaurant, ordering take out and to go all in support of Amanda, Gina and Michelle. They are going to be donating thousands of dollars and all you can say is negative? You sound like a Glass Half Empty kind of guy. Real Sensitive!   more ›

The Best Pizza in Lakewood Is...

Angelo’s runs away with the top prize at the annual Kiwanis Club Pizza Bake-Off at Lakewood High School.

The number of ballots filled out at the second-annual Lakewood Pizza Bake-Off could be a decent indication of the event’s success. About half way through the three-hour long event on Thursday, organizers ran out of ballots. More than 600 people attended the event in the cafeteria at Lakewood High School, and lines stretched at every vendor table. In the end, Angelo’s was the winner of the People’s Choice award. Roman Fountain took second place and Donato’s took third. David Norton, the president of the Kiwanis Club of Lakewood, said he’d hoped to raise $5,000, with the proceeds going toward helping Lakewood organizations. Done and done. “It was a great showing,” Norton said. “All 14 vendors were very happy with the results.” In the other …

Court records show Michael P. Murphy has been convicted six times for drunken driving.

Since 1991, Murphy has been charged with eight total counts of drunken driving on six different occasions, according to Lakewood Municipal Court records. He’s been convicted of five counts of OVI – including one tied to a 2008 car accident – one count of driving while under the influence and one open container violation. Thank You Pat. You are so right as this is nothing new, yet nothing gets done about it. But yet the city can ban an animal they deem dangerous even though they are innocent. What justice is there in their case? Guilty until Proven innocent. Are you Pat, personally afraid of Pits? I am afraid of drunk drivers, but not Pits.   more ›

Car Crash Nearly Takes Out Angelo's Pizza

Witness: 'He had to have been going 45, at least.'

A car crash at the doorstep of Angelo's Pizza a little after 12 a.m. Sunday has resulted in an arrest. Lakewood Police reported a man has been charged with drunken driving, and no one was injured. Witnesses to the accident said a dark-gray Chevrolet truck was driving north on Wascana Avenue when it hit a parked car, knocking it into another parked car. "He had to have been going 45 (mph) at least," said Nicole Muscatello, who was working at Angelo's when it happened. Another Angelo's employee, Alisa Strang, said the man then sped through the stop sign at the intersection of Wascana and Madison avenues, and slammed into a silver Ford sport-utility vehicle headed east on Madison. The Ford flipped on its side, took out a parking meter and …
