The Thrifty peddler is a clothing and collectibles non-profit resale shop. Located on the main floor of the LakewoodMore Hospital Professional Building and operated by volunteers, the merchandise is reasonably priced. Sale proceeds flow to three women's auxiliary boards and the volunteer association who then in turn, use the funds for hospital improvement projects.

The police department employs more than 130 men and women, including 30 officers posted at the city's schools. There are also 25 auxiliary officers who volunteer on an as-needed basis. In addition to the department's headquarters on Detroit Avenue, there are also four posts (one for each ward of the city) where neighborhood police officers are stationed.

The group offers numerous services and programs, including collecting food, raising funds and providing volunteer services, such as the Thanksgiving and Christmas food basket events. The LCAC has helped provide over 5,000 Lakewood families with holiday food bags at Thanksgiving and Christmas and also provides cleaning supplies for the spring cleaning bucket program. With the continued help of supporters the group also provides needed assistance to over 750 families and seniors a year.
