St. Edward High School is a perennial powerhouse in athletics. Each year, the Catholic school has a new, fancy championship banner to hang in the gymnasium. But the school, founded in 1949, isn't known solely for sports. The college prep school is also home to a number of specialized academic programs that have landed it some recognition as well — including its progressive engineering and entrepreneurship programs. Twice, the school has been recognized by the United States Department of Education as a Blue Ribbon School, one of the highest academic honors a school can receive.
