My boyfriend and I were doing some last minute Christmas shopping on Saturday December 21st. We were looking for something specific and was recommended by another local shop down the street to try Hixson's. We were told if anyone in Lakewood had what we were looking for, it would be Hixsons. We were so excited to give it a try since we had been in just about every other shop in the city. When we pulled up at 5:59 PM we noticed that the store closes at 6:00. Since we saw that the door was still unlocked and the last minute shoppers were just now leaving, we thought we would go up to the door and ask the employee if they carried the item we were so desparately looking for. She was very, very rude to us. She grabbed the door and pulled it out of my boyfriends hands, telling us they were closed. When we asked if they sold any type of bells, she replied with SUCH an attitude "Bells? NO! WE ARE CLOSED." Really??? If you have a paying customer that comes to your door at 5:59 when you close at 6:00 you let them in. You do not slam the door in their face. I could understand if it was a big corporation, but a small independent, local business should be willing to stay open an additional 3 minutes in order to make another sale. I am sorry, but I will never attempt to go to Hixson's ever again.

I'm really disappointed in the neglect of housekeeping. The dust overwealms everything. It would be such a nice store if they cleaned and updated the merchandise however the majority of the merchandise is noteworthy. There are artful and unique gifts in all the nooks and crannies. The management needs a good scolding for his obvious neglect to make Hixson's shine for this Community.

I love this store. They have a lot of unique things. Great for kids too.

I have been coming to Hixson's since I was little. It always brings back fond memories of shopping with my Mom. Great place to go if you are looking for something special.
