Whiz Kid: Meet Lakewood's Newest Eagle Scout

Jacob Schneider only needed 21 merit badges to earn the Eagle Scout distinction with the Boy Scouts of America.

He earned 29 of them.

He also picked up his Eagle Scout rank.

Schneider, who has been active with the scouts since the second grade, was honored this week at the meeting for his achievement.

His chosen service project involved amassing 300 volunteer hours taking apart then rebuilding the playground at St. Malachi Center.

He did this using donated money he collected, and built the structure with his own designs.
