Tonight’s Football Game is a 'Red Out'

Jordan’s Family Foundation hoping to raise awareness about heart disease, encouraging fans to wear red.

Usually, it’s purple and yellow for Lakewood fans at Friday night football games.

But for tonight’s game between the and Norwalk High School, a Lakewood organization is asking fans to help raise awareness about heart disease by wearing red.

The “Red Out” event, sponsored by Jordan’s Family Foundation, an organization dedicated to spreading awareness and raising money for heart disease research.

“During the game, we will honor and remember loved ones while helping to fight heart disease and stroke,” according to a news release, issued by Jordan’s Family Foundation.

In addition, teams, students and community members are encouraged to buy and wear a “Red Out” event T-shirt to school, to work, and to the game in honor of our loved ones and to support the American Heart Association.

“Heart disease kills more people in the US than the next 5 leading causes of death combined — including cancer,” according to the news release. “This Red Out event, proudly sponsored by is a great way to celebrate the lives of family and friends we have lost in our community to this devastating disease while helping others.”

Those unable to attend the game, but still like to support the cause, are encouraged to visit the event website to make a donation in the high school’s name. All proceeds benefit the American Heart Association.
