Marking Earth Day by Keeping Lakewood Beautiful

Residents can celebrate Earth Day a day early this year, because on Saturday, volunteers for are hosting a cleanup at at 9 a.m. until noon.

Come ready to work. And come hungry. 

Following the cleanup, the organization will host a volunteer lunch and Earth Day activities at the Woman’s Pavilion from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Throughout the United States, every year engaged citizens participate in activities that include beautifying parks and recreation areas, cleaning seashores and waterways, handling recycling collections, picking up litter, planting trees and flowers and conducting educational programs and litter-free events.

Here in Lakewood, individuals and groups are encouraged to register to clean up a public space in our city parks, parking lots, school yards and public areas.

Created in 1982, Keep Lakewood Beautiful’s mission is to “promote civic involvement through public interest in the general improvement of the environment of Lakewood.”
