Lakewood Streetwalk Hits the Ground Running

Despite the heat — and a thunderstorm — thousands turn out for the annual Streetwalk in downtown Lakewood.

Despite the heat, and an early evening thunderstorm, the annual  was a big hit in downtown Lakewood on Saturday afternoon.

Dozens of booths featuring activities of all kinds lined Detroit Avenue, as the crowds got bigger throughout the afternoon.

There were all kinds of attractions, including a sprinkler system, hula hoops, a rock-climbing wall and skateboarding ramps.

The event, hosted by LakewoodAlive, also featured live music, a 5K race and a watermelon-eating contest.
