‘Jig & Jog’ 5K Race Set for St. Patrick’s Day

Sponsored by Sullivan's Irish Pub, the event will raise money for the new bone marrow transplant rooms at Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital.

For St. Patrick’s Day, how about a jig and a jog?

Get your Irish on for the appropriately named "Irish Jig & Jog" 5K Race slated for 8 a.m. March 17.

The race will begin at , make its way through the historic Birdtown neighborhood, and end at Madison Park.

“(It’s a) great way to start your holiday with plenty of time to have a ball at the race, enjoy a nice brunch, and still have time to head downtown for the parade if that's in your plans,” he said. “The weather should be great, and the run boasts a unique Lakewood route through the Birdtown neighborhood.”

A pancake breakfast at Madison Park will follow for those who participate in the race. There will also be a post-race event — featuring some Irish music — at Sullivan’s.

The cost to participate is $20 before March 15, and $25 leading up to the race (the cost for student runners is $15). Checks can be made payable to Peace Racing.
