The event, set for March 31 at the , will feature some syrupy goodness — pancakes, sausage, fruit, juice and coffee — and the Easter Bunny

The fundraiser event is presented by the City of Lakewood’s Help to Others (H2O), an active and innovative program that promotes community service among high school and middle school students, and in turn engages them to provide assistance and support at more than 90 community events each year.

All dollars raised will go to support H20, specifically to offset the cost of its summer service camp and year-round programming.

Between 50 and 60 Lakewood students will volunteer their time to roll silverware, fill plastic eggs, cook food, serve food, take tickets, take pictures and of course, play the coveted role of the long-eared, silent furry guy himself.

Emmie Hutchison, the director of H2O, said the event helps to promote student leadership.

“It’s one of those events that tends to draw newer kids into the program,” she said. “The kids are proud to be there — they’re running a whole event.

Tickets are going fast. The reservation deadline is right around the corner, on March 28.

The available seating times are 8:30 a.m.; 9:45 a.m., 11 a.m.; and 12:15 p.m.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Kids can also get a picture taken with the Easter Bunny for $5, which will be mailed to them in a keepsake folder — or mom and dad can snap it for free if they remember the digital camera.

Families can also buy raffle tickets to win fun-filled theme baskets of items donated from local businesses.

“We’re getting a really good response from local businesses for the raffle baskets,” Hutchison said. “Local businesses really support their town.”

In addition, she said, First Federal of Lakewood is the newest sponsor of the event.
