Viewfinder: St. Edward Bests Cleveland Heights

Eagles now move on to face St. Ignatius in 'Holy War' rematch.

A standing room only crowd at Crawford Field saw hang on to beat Cleveland Heights 28- 14 in a hard fought game which was Cleveland Heights first playoff game in school history.

St Ed's jumped out to a 14- 0 lead with two touchdown runs by running back Dwayne Heron. The second quarter continued with St Ed's running the ball, but this time it was Kenny Butler's turn.

St Ed's relied on their running game heavily in the second quarter as well. Cleveland Heights got on the board when quarterback Bryce Jones tossed the ball to receiver Sheldon Gibson, who threw a 54 yard touchdown pass to Marcus McShepard to make the score 21-6 at halftime.

The third quarter started with Cleveland Heights striking quickly with Marcus Bagley 12 yard touchdown run. The two point conversion was good and Cleveland Heights was back into the game.

St Ed's scored a late touchdown to seal a 28-14 victory over a hard fought game at Cleveland Heights. With a St. Edward victory, this sets up  a rematch with cross town rival St. Ignatius. St. Ignatius beat St. Ed's a few weeks ago at Lakewood Stadium 20-17.

For St. Ed's, it's a chance to as "The Holy War: Part 2" will take place next weekend at a field to be determined.
