Five quick questions with Alex Lavisky:

  • What’s your most memorable moment, growing up as an Indians fan?

My dad and older brother went to a World Series game in 1997. I was too young. They came home with a program signed by David Justice and gave it to me. That was the coolest thing.

  • Favorite moment as pro player?

My first spring training last year, I hit like eight bombs (homers). I hit two in a game last year for Lake County. But I think it is just seeing Kenny Lofton working with guys in camp. He’s one of my heroes.

  • Funniest moment?

Last year in Dayton, we had a long, long rain delay. A bunch of guys took (Captains infielder) Nick Bartolone and stuffed him into a big bag, took it across the field and put it in front of their dugout. Their players came out and poked the bag, wondering what it was. Nick jumped out and scared them. Hilarious. Then he ran around in the rain and did all sorts of crazy stuff.

  • Biggest surprise?

Adjusting to the pitching in pro ball. Every guy was the star on his high school team. In high school, the only guy in the area that threw that hard was on my own team (Stetson Allie). Now, everybody comes at you like that every day.

  • Goals?

I want to make my pitcher look good every game. As the catcher, it is my top priority. I’ve always been an offensive catcher, but anything I can add offensively is nice. The thing I must do is keep my team’s pitchers on track.
