St. Edward Grapplers Take Care of Business in Home Match

The wrestling team took care of business in its two matches Saturday on its home mats.

In the first round, the Eagles grapplers took down Uhrichsville Claymont, 57-11. In the second match, St. Edward shutout Strongsville, 68-0.

Next weekend, the team will host some powerhouse programs from across the country, with nationally ranked opponents Blair Academy, N.J. (ranked No. 2 in the country), and eight-ranked Wyoming Seminary Prep coming to Lakewood.

However, Eagles coach Greg Urbas said his squad wasn’t looking past the task-at-hand.

“We did a real nice job,” he said. “Every week is a preparation. We work hard in the wrestling room at practices. We get these kids squared away, and we try to get better each day.”

Is Urbas nervous about the next quad match?

“To us, it’s motivation,” he said. “They are tougher than heck. These are going to be challenges.”
