Rangers' Football Squad Thumps North Olmsted

Offense comes alive in 34-14 win Friday night.

The Rangers football season kept rolling along Friday night, as they stormed into North Olmsted and brought home their second win of the season.

Lakewood (2-1) seems to have shook off — and lack of offensive firepower — to win the game, 34-14.

Talk about offense.

Here’s how the scoring went down:

  • Lakewood senior quarterback Aturo Morgan got the scoring started with a six-yard touchdown midway through the first quarter.
  • In the second quarter, North Olmsted answered, when Brian Kozlak hauled in a five-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Brad Novak.
  • Later in the period, Lakewood senior running back Ben Fitchwell ran for a five-yard rushing touchdown.
  • Just under five minutes in the second-half, Morgan ran in for another touchdown — this one for 13 yards.
  • In the fourth quarter, with the game already secured, junior tailback Jovon Young added a pair of rushing touchdowns — one for six yards and another for 12 yards.
  • Late in the game, North Olmsted scored again. But, Joe Lumpkin’s 10-yard rushing touchdown was too little, too late.

The Rangers will head to Parma next Friday to face the Redmen.
