LHS Boys' Cross Country Team Runs All the Way to Regionals

The Rangers finished third at last weekends District meet, and head to Tiffin, OH today.

Last year, the boys’ cross country team missed advancing to regionals by 10 points.

This year, they got their redemption.

Today, they will be competing against 15 other teams in the Division I Regional Tournament at Hedges Boyer Park in Tiffin, OH at 3 p.m.

“The guys were really motivated for this year,” said Coach Mike Schreiner. “They put in a lot of hard work.”

The Rangers, who finished with an 88-52 record, advanced from the District meet last week at Lorain County Community College, where they finished third. , Northeast Ohio Conference MVP, took top individual honors.

“Nick’s pretty tough,” Schreiner said. “We’ve got a great group of guys.”

That group, in addition to Jackosky, includes sophomore Nick Boatman, juniors Marty Hartsel, Peter Quigly, Ben Toole, and seniors AJ Graber and Nick Stadler.

Schreiner, who also coaches track and teaches second grade at Grant Elementary School, said the boys have turned in great performances all year.

“Hopefully we can continue that tomorrow, and then hopefully to the state meet next weekend,” he said.

The top four teams and 16 individuals in Saturday’s meet will advance to the state tournament at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, OH on Saturday, Nov. 5.
