Kent State Watch Parties Slated in Lakewood

The Golden Flashes are playing Arkansas State for their third-ever bowl appearance in the GoDaddy.com Bowl Game. Kickoff is slated for 9 p.m., shown on TV on ESPN.

After winning 11 games — a program record at Kent State — the Golden Flashes football team will take on Arkansas State for the GoDaddy.com Bowl Game at 9 p.m. Sunday.

It’s on ESPN, and there are watch parties slated all over the country — from North Carolina to Hawaii.

This is the third bowl appearance for the Golden Flashes. They last appeared in the Tangerine Bowl in 1972 and the Refrigerator Bowl before that in 1954.

The Golden Flashes will have some supporters in Lakewood.

At least a couple Lakewood bars are hosting official watch parties.

  • Around the Corner: For $25, the Detroit Avenue staple is offering domestic draft beer, well liquors and 10 free wings — one the patio only. The party begins at 8 p.m. Wear your KSU apparel to receive food and drink specials.
  • Quaker Steak and Lube: Kent State reported that Quaker Steak and Lube restaurants around Ohio — including the Lakewood location — hosted parties for the MAC championship game. The restaurant will also feature the game on its televisions on Sunday.
