NFL Punt, Pass & Kick Competition Joins the Blitz

The NFL Punt, Pass & Kick competition program is a national skills competition and has signed up with the Rush for a Cause Family Football Blitz on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Brecksville Broadview Heights High School.  This year PPK will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary as the oldest NFL Youth Football Program! NFL stars including Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterbacks Troy Aikman and Dan Marino competed in PPK programs as youngsters. PP&K began in 1961, and is for boys and girls, in five separate age divisions,(6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, and 14-15) competing separately against their peers, with winners in each age group determined by the total distance of their punts, passes, and kicks in a fun and engaging forum.  The winner of this competition proceeds to a sectional qualifier, and could advance to the finals conducted during a NFL Playoff Game. Last year's Finals were in Atlanta, Georgia, and even had some Ohio participants place in the top three. The PPK program is free, both to organizers who host the local competition and to every youngster who wants to participate. Additinally, as provided by John Collis of the Parisi Speed School of Peak Performance Center in Broadview Heights, all of the youngsters will also be able to test their athletic abilities in a Combine-style environment. Their scores in the 10 yard, 20 yard, 40 yard dashes, 5-10-5 yard agility shuttle, verticle jump, pull up test, and 5 broad jump will be compared to thousands of other athletes in a fun and competitive method called the Cat Club Challenge.  Certificates will be handed out to participants which will include their individual scores and Cat Club Level (bobcat thru cheers). The schedules for both start at 10:00 am to 12:00 noon, and again from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm and lastly from 5:30 pm till 6:30 pm.  Entrants can sign up now at www.nflppk.com and enter area code 44147 Overwhelming response from the local youth football teams has been received as 106 teams have already registered for scrimmages, and an off-site fields had to be added to the eight (8) fields already scheduled. The Cleveland Browns Kids' Club will also be represented at the Blitz, as activities and entertainment are being added daily. The Cheerleading Clinic is now receiving sign-ups for the four (4) sessions from ages Pre-K to seniors in high school.  Please sign up at our website www.rushforacause.org   Contact Chairperson Jeanie Cunningham at 440-546-0815 or jmcshouse@yahoo.com with any questions. The day's Entertainment rounds out the day all day long with Dan J The Family Ventriloquist, St. Ignatius Circus, magicians, clowns, stilt walkers, balloon twisters, grinders, Cheerleading Demonstrations, professional face painting, Pat Catan's Craft Center, trick rope Teams, caricature artists, mimes, jugglars, steel drums, strength team, and zoo animals, with more being added daily. Games Galore will be provided for the players, siblings, friends and parents including Bounce Palace, inflatable obstacle course, football toss, rock climbing wall, dunk tank, corn hole, basketball toss, and miscellaneous games to be added over the next few months.   There is something for everybody, with a Flag Coaches' Clinic from 8:00 am to 9:00 am and then a Flag Players' Clinic from 9:00 am to 10:00 am Thank you for your time and continued support of Rush for a Cause, a very worthy Cause to financially support severely injured athletes.  Please do not hesitate to call me if you have any questions, or if I can be of any further assistance on this fun filled Event.
