11 St. Edward Wrestlers Qualify for State Tournament

Eagles grapplers went 6-0 in championship matches at the district tournament over the weekend, according to the Plain Dealer.

It looks like another successful year for the St. Edward High School wrestling squad.

There’s only one more goal left to check off the list: The state tournament.

The Eagles qualified 11 wrestlers for the upcoming tournament, after dominating the district’s last weekend.

Two-time state champ Domenic Abounader (183) and Dean Heil (132) both pinned all four of their opponents. Chance Driscoll (126), Colin Heffernan (138), Edgar Bright (145) and Markus Scheidel (152) also won district titles.

"We're never satisfied,” Abounader told the Plain Dealer. “All the kids that got knocked out are sophomores and juniors, and they're going to come back strong."
