Experience Cleveland Roller Derby

Whether you are a first-time attendee or a long-time fan, there are many ways to experience roller derby in Cleveland.

We’re halfway through roller derby season at the Burning River Roller Girls, Cleveland’s own flat-track roller derby league, but the excitement for the year is just beginning.
Whether you’re curious about roller derby, a casual fan, or a super-fan who is eager to get more involved, there are many opportunities.

1. WATCH
If you haven’t seen modern roller derby in action, now is the time!
Saturday, June 1, the Cleveland home teams will be battling each other in an amazing double-header event. The 2012 Hazard cup champs, the Hellbombers, will take on the Rolling Pin-Ups, and the Hard Knockers will challenge the Cleveland Steamers.
Results of this bout will determine the line-up for the semifinals, June 22.
Doors open at 5 p.m. The action starts at 6 p.m. at the Ohio Nets Sports Complex in Parma.
Visit www.burningriverrollergirls.com for tickets and details.

2. JOIN
It’s recruiting season at the Burning River Roller Girls, and our bootcamps are in full swing. If you have basic skating skills and want to train to become a roller girl or referee, these bootcamps are for you! The next bootcamps will be Sundays, June 2 and June 23 from  9:45 a.m.-12 p.m.
If you would like to attend, please RSVP to recruiting@burningriverrollergirls.com so we can send you details. While our league only accepts females on our teams, both men and women interested in becoming referees are welcome at these training events.
Even if you don’t think you’re ready to attend a bootcamp or our August tryouts, email us to join our recruiting list. You will receive tons of great advice from our recruiting director about how you can get started on your path to become a roller girl!

3. VOLUNTEER
We are a skater-run league, and thus we do a ton of work behind the scenes to manage all aspects of our league and bouts. If you want to help on game days, contact hr@burningriverrollergirls.com to find out more about all the ways you can volunteer. Bonus: You get into the games for free!

4. DONATE
Money from your ticket and merchandise purchases help us continue to host extraordinary bouts and keep our league afloat, and we couldn’t thank you enough. But we also have many expenses that will increase the competitive nature of our league, but bring in no revenue. This summer, the Burning River All-Stars will be competing in several tournaments that will take them outside of Cleveland and possibly to regional playoffs. This will cost a considerable amount of money. Please consider a donation of any size to help our athletes compete and learn more derby skills from top-rated teams nationally.
Visit www.gofundme.com/BurningRiverAllStarsFund for details.

We hope you can join us as we build up the sport of roller derby in Cleveland!
