Student registration takes place at the Lakewood Board of Education, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Hours of operation will extend through 6:00 p.m. on Aug. 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, 21, 22, and 23.) No appointment is necessary. Be mindful, however, that you may experience some delay at peak times of the day or prior to the start of the school year. You may obtain a packet of registration materials at the Board of Education or online at lakewoodcityschools.org. School for the 2012-2013 year begins on Wednesday, Aug. 22.
Who may register a child for school?:
Only legal residents who are the parent or legal guardian of the child may complete the registration process. All certified court orders pertaining to guardianship and custody must be presented at the time of registration. The Lakewood City School District does not grant temporary enrollment (OCR 3313.64 E).
Ohio Law requires that all children complete a formal kindergarten program. Any child who is 5 years old on or before Sept. 30 of the school year is eligible for kindergarten.
The Lakewood City School District will enroll only those students whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) are residents of the school district. “Residence” for school purposes means that the custodial parent(s)/legal guardian(s) of the student are full-time residents of Lakewood.
