More Than 500 Backpacks Given to Lakewood Middle School Students
Lakewood Teachers Association rounds up funds to help out new students at the district's middle schools.
More than 500 new sixth-grade students in the got new backpacks on Thursday.
And, they were all gifts.
They were handed out by the , which hosted fundraisers to buy the bags.

LTA organizers said this is the first time the group has done a project like this one.
“This is our gift to the incoming middle school students,” said Martha Exoo, who handed out more than two-dozen backpacks to her pre-algebra class at on Thursday. “This is the first time they’ve even had a locker.”
