Lakewood School Treasurer Tim Penton Resigns

Penton started with the district in January 2013

Lakewood City Schools treasurer Tim Penton has resigned, the district announced Monday.

Penton was hired by the district in July 2012 and replaced former treasurer Rick Berdine on a full-time basis in January 2013.

Overseeing Franklin County’s Whitehall City Schools fiscal operations for the past 12 years, Penton has a 29-year career in education and 15 years in school finance, according to a news release from the school district.

During his tenure, Lakewood voters passed a 6.9-mill levy for the district.

“Tim Penton has served the Lakewood City Schools well during his time as Treasurer,” said Board President Edward Favre in a district press release.

“He made great strides and improvements and worked collaboratively with the Board, the Superintendent and the rest of district, as well as those outside the district,” Favre continued. “We were disappointed to hear of his decision, however understand and respect his private reasons.  We wish Tim the best and would welcome the opportunity to work with him in the future.”
