Candidate Statement:

As a parent of two kids attending Lakewood Schools, educator, small business owner and community volunteer, I am concerned about the future of education. There are many challenges facing our district. Lakewood needs school board members that are relevant, connected, and prepared for 21st century challenges. I have been working hard getting to know Lakewood citizens and their concerns regarding our schools. I will bring that same ethic to the job of school board member. I will provide new perspectives and a pragmatic approach to policies that empower families, support administrators and teachers, and stabilize district funding to ensure excellent programming.

Here’s what I’ve been up to in Lakewood:

• Co-Founder, “Brake-4-Kids” Speed Awareness & NEW Snow Removal Initiative, “Clear-4-Kids”

• Board Member, Lakewood Family Collaborative

• Coordinator, Phase III School Facilities Committee

• PTA Member

• School Volunteer

• Consistent Attendee, Lakewood Board of Education meetings and advocate for positive change

• Youth Master Plan, Member of the Education Committee

If elected I will be:

• Dedicated to decisions that put the educational needs and safety of our kids first.

• Proactive in increasing parent involvement & communication.

• Fiscally responsible and committed to finding creative solutions to funding issues.

• Committed to prioritizing the completion of the renovation at Lakewood High School.

• Supportive of teachers and staff, through fair negotiations.

• Motivated to engage state leaders to advocate for funding and legislation that does not undermine public education

• Supportive of solutions that encourage Lakewood Schools to help our most challenged students.
