Lakewood City Schools: ‘We Are All Saddened by the Tragedy’

There is a full statement available on the district's website.

The Lakewood City School District has posted a message on its website about the school shooting Friday in Connecticut.

“We are all saddened by the tragedy that happened at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn., and our hearts go out to the victims, their families, staff, students and the Newtown community,” the message begins.

According to the message, the district has a safety plan in place and works closely with the Lakewood Police. Students and staff practice a lockdown drill multiple times throughout the year, and the district’s buildings all have secured entrances and cameras.
