Jim Tressel Coming to University of Akron Lakewood

Famed former football coach at Ohio State University and current vice president of strategic development at the University of Akron, is coming to the UA Lakewood campus on Feb. 9.

Jim Tressel, the former superstar football coach at Ohio State and current vice president of strategic development at the University of Akron, is coming to Lakewood.

He’ll be on-hand at a special event at the UA Lakewood campus at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 9.

Tressel is expected to promote the university’s close-to-home advantage for prospective students, as well as the dual-enrollment program or high schools students looking to get college credit.

Refreshments and prizes will be available — and so will Zippy, the UA mascot.

“We're excited to give area students an opportunity to tour the facility, find out about the UA Advantage, meet Jim Tressel and find out more about a quality university education available close to home,” said UA Lakewood director Suzanne Metelko.

With students attending the university between the ages of 16 to 86, Metelko added:

“At the University of Akron Lakewood, there is something for everyone.”
