Eagle Scout Hopeful Builds Gazebo at Celeste Park

One Lakewood boy’s quest to become an Eagle Scout badge means a new gazebo for residents at .

Will Rouse, 17, a senior at , is working to finish up his final scout project. He’s put in lots of hours. 

The gazebo, measuring about 9 feet in diameter, will hold about 10 people once its finished at the corner of West Clifton Avenue and Clifton Boulevard this summer.

“It’s the last big step to become an Eagle Scout,” he said. “It’s a project in which you lead a group of people to complete a service project that will benefit a group of people. In this case, the people benefiting are the people of Lakewood.”

Rouse has been a scout in Troop 287 since he was 11 years old.

The Erie Cliff Drive resident said that a neighbor suggested the idea for the gazebo.

“One of the coolest things is that it started as a pile of wood in my garage,” he said. “It’s really coming together.”

Once he graduates from St. Edward next June, Rouse plans to attend Ohio State University, where he plans to study business.
