Recuiting Iron Maidens for an All Female Dragon Boat Team

Recruiting Meeting

When:  Sunday, February 3, 2013, 3pm-4pm
Where: Panera Bread  14701 Detroit Ave, Lakewood, OH

We are a newly formed Women's Dragon Boat Club , The Iron Maidens. We are  looking for enthusiastic paddlers to join us.

Never paddled before? No worries - we are a friendly and supportive group of women., and most of us only started paddling last season, so we know how it feels to be new. We like to enjoy  all aspects of this fantastic sport, from the social interaction to the sheer physicality and the joy of having a medal around our neck!

Prerequisites:
-You need to have the time to train and to compete.

- Be prepared to put as much into your fitness as you can. None of us are elite athletes and we have varying degrees of fitness, but we all work as hard as we can through the season to be the best we can be.

-You need to work as part of a team. This is not a sport for individuals - 22 women in the boat requires flexibility, a lot of tolerance, sometimes a bit of compassion, a sense of humor, and the desire to be the very best that you can be.

- There will be fundraising, so you need dedicate time and energy to put into this.

We have a really good time on and off the water. Most of us have busy lives, and the chance to throw ourselves into a team sport such as dragon boating is a real tonic in many ways.
We invite you to join us for a Recruiting Meeting this Sunday(Feb. 3 at 3pm) at Panera Bread in Lakewood.

Important information:

Cost – Membership fee is $25. And $5.00 per practice
Summer training times: May-September
Training Times and Days :  TBA
Where  We Practice– On the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland's Historic Flats District at Rivergate Park, 1785 Merwin Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44113.
Wear - most people wear a light thermal top, shorts or thermal pants, until the weather warms up! Lifejackets and paddles are provided.
