LHS Girls Varsity Team Races to a strong team finish at The Fleet Feet Strongsville Invitational

On a rainy and muddy Saturday morning September 21st, the Lakewood High School Girls Cross Country team competed to a 9th place finish at The Fleet Feet Strongsville Invitational. In a field which included several state ranked teams, the girls 9th place finish out of 27 total teams is the best finish the team has had dating back to 2002.

Leading the way was senior Alyssa Hasman with a 37th place finish (20:55).
Right behind her was senior Maeve Christie in 41st place (21:02). Senior Grace
Latham was third for the girls finishing in 58th place (21:20). Freshman Olivia
Rodriguez finished in 70th place with a time of 21:38. Completing the girls
scoring was sophomore Cate Schleckman with a time of 22:06, good enough for 90th place.

The LHS Girls XC "Runner of the Week" is Alyssa Hasman. On Saturday at The Fleet Feet Strongsville Invitational Alyssa finished in 37th place with a time
of 20:55. Her 37th place finish was in a field of regional capable talent of
220 runners. Alyssa has been having by far her best season and looks to
continue leading the girls into the next upcoming meets.

The girls travel to the biggest meet in the country on Saturday September 28th, the Mcquaid Jesuit Invitational in Rochester, New York.
