Take the Kids to the Ballpark and Join Them in the Clubhouse

The Cleveland Indians debuted the Kids Clubhouse on Sunday offering a unique way for the whole family to enjoy the game and ballpark experience.

On Sunday, I took my son to Progressive field to watch the Indians play the Texas Rangers and also, and of HUGE importance to my son - visit the Cleveland Indians new Kids Clubhouse located on the mezzanine level.

The Rookie Suite (where we spent most of our time) - is a 4,000 square-foot indoor playground geared toward kids age 6 and under and is fully loaded with activities and equipment from Step 2, a climbing wall, and a large area with arts & crafts, courtesy of Jo-Ann Fabric & Craft Stores.

It wasn't hard to keep an eye on Nick as he ran from activity to activity but it wasn't hard to keep tabs on the game either. The view of the field and scoreboard is fantastic and families can sit on the porch area right outside the suite. In addition, there are HD monitors broadcasting the game throughout the Rookie Suite.

The Slugger's Sandlot is the area for older kids ages 7 and up which features an outdoor playground featuring wiffle ball field, batting cage, speed pitch, and video game area. Food and snacks for kids at discounted prices and available and Slider,  Mustard, Ketchup, and Onion can be seen circulating around the Clubhouse interacting with the kids and families.

Admission to the Kid’s Clubhouse is free and open to anyone with a game ticket and kids. Before kids can use the Clubhouse, they must be checked in and parents must sign a waiver. Check-ins are processed efficiently with iPads that can read from the magnetic stripes on a driver license. After check-in, kids are given a wrist-band and they're good-to-go. A parent must stay with the kids while they are using the Clubhouse.

Sundays are "Sunday Kids Fun Days" featuring additional activities for kids and the opportunity to run the bases after game. Nick thought running the bases was the best part of the day. I thought it was pretty cool to be on the third base line watching him run toward home plate.
