Getting to know you!

Bars, treats and eats- The Lakewood Stroll

Moving to Lakewood, has been a goal of mine for quite a while. I just moved my business here , so I am testing the waters out a bit.

As my business name is Thirstees (shameless plug) I'd like to think my Bartending and Food Service background ( 10 plus years - ah hem- cough, that long?) makes me a pretty good judge on where to get my drink and snack on! Here are some of my favorites and or recommendations thus far! I will not be a criticizer here-positives only!

1) Red Rose Cafe- Highly recommend the wing and beer special! Tribe games have great specials on Pitchers of Beer and they have 30 Cent wings too- I think they run this wings special quite a bit and it is not to be missed, they are a great size and really tasty. It is by far the cleanest bar I have seen possibly ever, we women like a clean bathroom, this one fits the bill. Rose the owner also Bar tends there and you can tell she is very dedicated to her customers and customer service. Nice place to hang with friends or on date night to just chillax!

2) Mars Bar- I have always heard about it but just recently went in- The interior seems to be updated in the past few years and is modern yet cozy- Of course they have the GYROS off the spit made to order fresh, but I really like the fact that they have a hidden gem , a really cool beer selection. I saw quite a few craft faves! They also just added a patio and extended their hours- The Bartenders all seem pretty cool too- A must stop.

3) Of course, for an IPA girl like me, the Beer Engine is a must- Already stuck on my favorite burger The West Side which boasts a pirogi ( pierogie, pirohy)  on top- YUM ( Did I mention Im a Parma chick? well at least for high school) The Fried Pickle on the side and the ever changing new beers on tap- make for a great Lakewood Experience.

4) The Screaming Rooster- I must admit Im a little biased as years ago I worked there when it was Characters and the menu still carries many of my faves! But bottom line- Whether at the bar or hanging out in a booth- BAR FOOD CENTRAL! Grab some beers- get a loaded fry ( very big menu) and settle in for the night with friends and LIVE music. DONE!

***Nice to pop in for an old fashioned scoop at Malleys as well. We enjoyed the park bench in front of my shop for people watching***

Well that's a good start for now- I am looking forward to many fun trips, getting to know my future dwelling place, its very important that I locate myself in walking distance of some really cool stuff.

We are going move east down Madison Next- Any Suggestions?

Till next time- CHEERS!
