Bob Evans Restaurant Eyeing Detroit Avenue Property?

Officials from the national restaurant chain are looking at the vacant property next to the new GetGo gas station.

Rumors are swirling around town about the future of the vacant “outlot” property next to the new GetGo gas station.

On Wednesday, the Detroit Avenue Chow Line posted on its Facebook page that the national chain Bob Evens was considering the property for a new restaurant. Cleveland.com followed suit.

City officials confirmed that representatives from Bob Evans have contacted city hall, but added that no deal has been reached with Giant Eagle, the owner of the property.

“We know that they are interested in the site,” said Dru Siley, the city’s director of planning and development. “And we expect to find out in the next month or so who is likely to pursue that property.”

The .9-acre property next to the new GetGo gas station on Detroit Avenue been vacant for years.

Goodman Real Estate Services is listing the property, however, officials from the real estate group could not immediately be reached for comment.

Neighbors have told Lakewood Patch the property is on the market for just under $1 million.
